Great question. The short answer: I’m a writer with several years of experience writing across print, digital and social. The long and winding answer is I’ve been a college paper editor, small-town barista and corporate word nerd. I have a BA in English and strong opinions on the Oxford Comma. I have experience training and editing others, and I’m pretty handy with a camera.

Food insecurity: According to Feeding America, 37 million Americans struggle with hunger, including 11 million children. You can help by donating money to Feeding America or food to your local food bank. Ask first to see what they need most, but some good foods to donate: peanut butter, canned meat, low-sodium canned veggies, rice, hearty canned soups, macaroni and cheese (spring for the fun shapes) and canned fruit.
Mental health: Suicide is the 10th-leading cause of death in America, claiming more than 48,000 American lives in 2018, per the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. You can make a difference by donating to AFSP. I also support BEAM (Black Emotional and Mental Health) to fund mental health initiatives that benefit the Black community and the Loveland Foundation, which helps Black women and girls access therapy. Don’t forget the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention charity aimed at LGBTQ+ youth.
